Teflon PTFE Piston Rings
PTFE piston rings provide a consistent and tight radial fit between the cylinder wall and the piston ring's running surface. The radial fit is produced by the piston ring's inherent pressure. In hydraulic cylinders the most commonly used guides are guide rings and guide strips. They accommodate radial loads of forces acting on the cylinder assembly and guide the rod in the cylinder head as well as the piston in the cylinder bore.
The piston ring is also designed to keep the piston ring lands sealed. Cylinder wall contact pressure is another piston ring style that we provide.
Guide rings are made of polymer materials and prevent metal-to-metal contact between moving parts in a working hydraulic cylinder.
PTFE guide ring is simple assembly and wear-resistant. With its good media resistance, the piston guide ring can be used in several media ranging from mineral oil-based hydraulic liquids, environment-friendly hydraulic liquids and water-oil emulsions to flame-resistant hydraulic liquids and dry-running applications. Piston guide rings offer very good gliding behavior, good emergency running properties and also a high wear resistance. Additionally, they help to attenuate mechanical vibrations.
The flexibility of the piston ring material, the free piston ring gap, and exposure to combustion gases all influence this pressure.
Compared to metal guides, polymer guides provide the following advantages in hydraulic cylinders:
● Improved service life
● work more smoothly against the cylinder bore and the sealing surfaces
● larger contact area due to higher degree of elastic deformation distributes the load and reduces stress to counter-surface
● avoid wear of cylinder surfaces despite the presence of contamination particles high resistance to insufficient lubrication at low speeds
● self-lubricating properties
PTFE Piston rings or guide rings provide a bearing surface to center the piston and rod dynamic surfaces in a reciprocating cylinder application
